🚀 Middle Schoolers Explore Future Careers!
A huge thank you to the local businesses and organizations that hosted our middle school students for their first Career Exploration Field Trips! Our students gained invaluable hands-on experience and returned to school inspired by the many paths available to them.
Here is a look at where our students went:
🏥 Health Sciences
Brodstone Healthcare in Superior gave our aspiring healthcare professionals a day to remember. Students participated in five hands-on activities, including learning how to suture, operating an ultrasound machine, and experiencing a zero-gravity simulation!
⚙️ Skilled & Technical Sciences
Students interested in manufacturing and engineering toured Reinke in Deshler and Metalquest in Hebron. They were incredibly impressed by the facilities and left eager to learn more about the world of modern manufacturing.
🚜 Agriculture, Food & Natural Resources
The Sutton Vet Clinic and the U.S. Meat Animal Research Center (MARC) hosted our Ag-focused students. The group was especially fascinated by the high-tech equipment and advanced technology used in animal science today.
🛡️ Human Science & Education
Our future leaders and public servants had an action-packed day:
National Guard Aviation Unit: Students climbed into the cockpit of a Chinook helicopter!
Nebraska Law Enforcement Training Center: Students practiced their skills using advanced simulation technology and learned about crowd control.

Sandy Creek Girls Who Code hosted their 3rd annual Science Fair this week — and our elementary scientists wowed the judges! So many strong projects led to close finishes and even a few ties decided by the smallest details. Huge thanks to the volunteer judges for donating their time and making those tough calls. Congratulations to all students for a fantastic showing!

Our seniors had an incredible experience yesterday at CCC!
They stepped into the real world by completing mock interviews, sharpening their skills and building confidence for what’s ahead. To top it off, they also attended an etiquette dinner, learning valuable tips on professionalism and dining manners.
We’re proud of their growth and excited to see them take these next steps toward their future!
We would like to thank Central Community College for use of their space and the Culinary and Hospitality program for preparing a delicious meal.
A special thank you goes out to our interviewers for volunteering their time to our students:
•Abby Alfs - Fillmore County Hospital
•Jessie Anderson - Waypoint Bank
•Steve Borer - Retired School Administrator
•Lindsey Ehmen - GHS Implement
•Kyla Habrock - Hastings Economic Development
•Jolene Harms - MetalQuest Unlimited
•L. Wayne Johnson - Clay County Mutual Insurance

The 3rd and 4th graders teamed up to add onto each other’s STEAM projects — and what they built was awesome! Each group had a time slot to design a new piece of a water park, then the next builder added on, and on it went. By the end, slides, splash pools, bathrooms, and crazy ramps linked together into one giant, wacky water park. The pictures show the wild progress and clever inventions they made along the way.
